NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Citadel men's tennis team returns to action with a trio of matches on Saturday and Sunday.
The Citadel will face Tennessee Wesleyan for a doubleheader on Feb 12 at 11 a.m., before taking on Vanderbilt Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center.
The Citadel split a pair of matches on Feb. 5
th at USC Sumter. The Bulldogs came out victorious in their first match against USC Sumter, 6-1, marking the first win of the 2022 season.
The Bulldogs swept all six singles matches, with
Hayden Shoemake,
Zvonko Bencedic, and
Josiah Schainblatt each winning in straight sets.
Tennessee Wesleyan is 2-0 to begin their 2022 season with wins over Johnson University and Lee University. Tennessee Wesleyan will play a doubleheader against Sewanee University before facing the Bulldogs. TWU enters the season ranked No. 3 in the NAIA national rankings.
Vanderbilt is 2-0 to start their 2022 season with victories over Wisconsin and Lipscomb. The Commodores will face Virginia Tech on Sunday before facing the Bulldogs.
Vanderbilt has two players ranked in the Top-100 in the ITA rankings, No. 34 George Harwell and No. 93 Joubert Klopper.
