CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Citadel tennis team will begin a five-match road trip on Feb. 25, starting with conference play against Chattanooga.
After competing with the Mocs, the Bulldogs will journey to Marietta, Georgia, for a doubleheader against Point University and Georgia Gwinnett College on Feb. 26.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Atlanta to compete against Georgia Tech for the second time of the season for a doubleheader on Feb. 27.
The Citadel split home matches on Feb. 22-23 at the Earle Tennis Center. The Bulldogs secured a 6-1 win against Washington and Lee on Feb. 22.
The Bulldogs won the doubles match point against the Generals and went 5-1 in singles match play.
In the No.1 singles spot,
Hayden Shoemake handed his opponent a 6-2, 6-2 defeat. He won his second singles match of the season.
The doubles team of
Sebastian Kamieniecki and
Zvonko Bencedic defeated their opponents, 8-6. The duo is 4-3 on the season.
Chattanooga is 2-6 for the 2022 season; the Mocs defeated Lipscomb on Feb. 20, halting a five-match losing streak.
Post University is 1-1 on the season with a most recent loss against Reinhardt, 4-3. The Skyhawks are nationally ranked No. 19 in the NAIA.
Georgia Gwinnett tops the NAIA rankings as the No. 1 team. The Grizzlies are 10-0 on the season, with their most recent win against Xavier (La.), 4-1, on Feb. 20.
Georgia Tech sits at 3-4 on the season. The Yellow Jackets were defeated by No. 9 Georgia on Feb. 13.
