Bulldogs Set to Host #2 Texas

GAME NOTES

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel steps up in competition on March 16 as the Bulldogs welcome No. 2 Texas to Riley Park. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.


Midweek Weather
Forecasts are calling for temperatures to reach near 70 degrees during the day, but a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.


ESPN+
Wednesday's game against Texas will be carried on ESPN+. Luke Mauro will be on the call.

Tickets for all home games are available on CitadelSports.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 843-953-DOGS. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office starting one hour before first pitch.


vs. Texas
The Bulldogs and Longhorns are meeting for the first time on the diamond.


vs. the Big 12
The Bulldogs are 1-5 all-time against teams from the Big 12. The lone victory came over Kansas State in 2013. The last game against a team from the Big 12 was the 2017 opener against Kansas, a 7-5 win for the Jayhawks.


Four-Straight Series Wins
The Citadel was won each of its first four series this season. The last time the Bulldogs did not lose a series in the first four weekends of the season came in 2010.


10-Run Inning
The Bulldogs scored 10 runs in the fifth inning of the series finale against Siena. It marked the first time the Bulldogs reached double digits in an inning since scoring 12 runs in the fifth inning against Winthrop on March 14, 2017.


Mitchell Drives in Six
Noah Mitchell had a breakout game in the second game against Siena. He finished the game 4-for-5 with a double, home run and career-best six RBIs. He also scored six runs.


Driving in 4
The Bulldog offense has had five different players drive in at least four runs in a game this season.

Paulsen Earns First Win
Left hander Fisher Paulsen earned his first carer victory against Siena. Paulsen allowed just two unearned runs on six hits and seven strikeouts over 5.0 innings.


Lanier Oppo Bomb
John Lanier hit his third career home run in the second game of the doubleheader against Siena. The home run was also his third homer to the opposite field.


On Deck
The Bulldogs continue their month-long home stand as they welcome Saint Peter's to Riley Park March 18-20. The first two games of the series will get underway at 2 p.m., with Sunday's finale set for 1 p.m.
