Baseball Back on Road For Three-Game Set at VMI

GAME NOTES

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Citadel returns to Southern Conference action as the Bulldogs travel to face VMI on April 14-16. First pitch for the series opener is set for 6 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. start on Friday and a 2 p.m. start on Saturday. All three games of the series will be carried on ESPN+.

Weekend Weather
The weekend forecast is calling for temperatures in the low 70s for all three games of the series.

This weekend's games at VMI will be aired on ESPN+.


vs. VMI
The Bulldogs and Keydets have met 103 times prior with The Citadel holding a 73-30 advantage in the all-time series. VMi has won seven of the last 10 games, including sweeping the series in 2021.


Three-Straight Road Weekends
This weekend will mark the third-straight weekend the Bulldogs will be on the road. This comes on the heels of spending the first six weekends of the season at home.


Back-to-Back Road SoCon Series
This season marks the first time since 1997 that the Bulldogs will open Southern Conference play with back-to-back series on the road. In 1997, The Citadel opened with series at Davidson and ETSU.


Comeback vs Cougars
The Citadel overcame deficits in the fifth and eighth innings to put an end to an 18-game losing streak to College of Charleston with 8-6 victory. The Bulldogs tied the game with three runs in the fifth and then regained lead with three runs in the eighth.


Floyd Gets First Win
Freshman George Derrick Floyd earned his first career victory after allowing just one hit and not walking a batter over the final 1.1 innings against the College of Charleston.


Beckley As A Starter
Right hander Devin Beckley made his fifth start of the season on Tuesday. In his five starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA. He has allowed just three runs on 12 hits and 31 strikeouts over 26.0 innings.


CSU Game Rescheduled
The game against Charleston Southern that was scheduled for April 6, has been rescheduled for April 20 at 6 p.m.


On Deck
The Bulldogs begin a busy week with a pair of midweek contests. The Bulldogs travel to North Florida on April 19 at 6 p.m., before hosting Charleston Southern on April 20 at 6 p.m.
