Baseball Travels to North Florida Before Hosting Charleston Southern

GAME NOTES

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Citadel plays a pair of midweek contests due to a rain out earlier this month. The Bulldogs travel to take on North Florida on April 19 at 6:05 p.m. before returning to Riley Park to make up the game with Charleston Southern on April 20. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.


Midweek Weather
Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s on both days.


ESPN+
Both midweek games will be streamed online. Tuesday's game at North Florida will be streamed on SWOOPLifeLive, while Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.


vs. North Florida
The Bulldogs and Ospreys are meeting for the second time this season. The teams met in Charleston on March 29 with The Citadel winning 8-1.


22-Run Outburst
The Citadel scored 22 runs in the series finale against VMI. It is the most runs scored in the 106 meetings against the Keydets and the most runs scored in a game since scoring 34 runs against Winthrop on March 14, 2017.


22 Runs in SoCon Game
The Bulldogs 22 runs scored against VMI in series finale are the most in a Southern Conference game since defeating Davidson, 25-14, on April 21, 2007.


6 Run Innings
The Citadel opened the finale against VMI by scoring six runs in each of the first two innings The Bulldogs would go on to score at least three runs in five of the seven innings.


5 RBI Games
Dominick Poole and Anthony Badala each drove in five runs in the series finale against VMI. The five RBIs are career highs for both players. It marked the second time this season the Bulldogs had a pair of players with five RBIs in a game. Cole Simpson and Travis Lott did it against Charleston Southern in February.


5 Runs Scored
Catcher Travis Lott went 4-for-4 and scored five runs in the series finale at VMI. He is the first Bulldog to score five times in a game since Tyler Cothran and Jonathan Sabo each scored six times against Winthrop in 2017.


Badala Goes Deep
Anthony Badala hit his first career home run when he hit a three-run shot to left in the series finale against VMI. He finished the game with five RBIs.


Sykes' Debut
Wells Sykes made his collegiate debut in the finale against VMI and responded with his first career hit and two RBIs.


Throwing Out Runners
Right fielder Ryan McCarthy has eight outfield assists on the season. Of his eight assists, three have been thrown out at home plate.


Making Sacrifices

Shortstop Tilo Skole leads the country with 13 sacrifice bunts. Teammate Wesley Lane is tied for 20th nationally with six sacrifice bunts.


On Deck
The Bulldogs play their first Southern Conference home series of the season as they welcome Western Carolina to Riley Park on April 22-24.
