Track and Field Post Strong Results on Day Two

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams posted strong results from day two at the Bill Carson Invitational.

Men's Results
  • Sam Blumer took the second spot in the pole vault by clearing 15-11.25.
  • JP Caglione tossed 51.25 in the shot put into earning himself a second-place finish. Caglione now sits at tenth all-time in the school's record book.
  • The 4x100m relay team finished in second place with a time of 44.42.
  • Aidan Richter finished in third place with a time of 1:56.03 in the 800m run.
  • Sam Sharnas took the third spot in the 1500m run with a time of 3:59.75. Sharnas now sits at eighth all-time in the school's record book. 
  • Treonte Newton competed in the 400m dash and took a fifth-place finish with a time of 50.28.
  • Brent Forrest earned eighth by clearing 13-5.75 in the pole vault.
  • Mason Draxton competed in the triple jump earning a ninth-place finish with a 37-6.75.
 
Women's Results
  • Carisma Holland finished in second place in the shot put with a toss of 47-0.75. Holland remains second all-time in the school record book.
  • Gabby Shea took second in the 800m run to finish with a time of 2:20.39. Shea set a personal record and now sits in fifth all-time in the schools record book.
  • Tatiana Corso earned herself a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 39-6.75. Corso now sits at seventh all-time in the school's record book.
  • The 4x100m relay team finished in second place with a time of 49.77.
  • Jay Mitchell finished in third place with a time of 1:01.75 in the 400m. 
  • Heidi Fortin set a school all-time record and a personal best with a time of 18:22.28 in the 5000m run. Fortin breaks the previous record set by Caillian Colquitt in 2016 with a time of 18:26.00. 
  • Emily Hickey cleared 10-2 to earn herself a seventh-place finish in the pole vault.
  • Leah Murray ran a 12.67 in the 100m dash to finish in tenth. She also finished in tenth in the 200m dash with 26.12.

The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to compete in the Gamecock Invitational on Apr. 16.
