Track and Field Ready for Championship Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, AL. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams are geared to compete in the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships from April 30 through May 1.

The site of the championships will be held at Samford University, and the events will be held at Shauna Yelton Field. Track events begin at 8:00 a.m. with the Men's 10,000m and the field events will start at 10:00 a.m. with the men's hammer throw.

On the Men's Side

JP Caglione ranks top-ten in three events; he sits at the top spot in the shot put with 53-5.5 and the hammer throw with 193-6. He ranks seventh in the discus with 138-9.
Sam Sharnas enters the outdoor championships ranked third in the Southern Conference in the 10,000m with a time of 30:55.80.
Sam Blumer ranks second in the Southern Conference in the pole vault with 16-6.75.
Mac Strunk set personal records at the USC Open in the 100m and 200m dash with times of 10.93 and 22.01. He ranks top-ten in both events.
Reggie Reynolds ranks in the top five in the hammer throw heading into championship weekend.
Stephen Kraeling ranks fifth in the Southern Conference in the high jump with 6-2.75.
Caleb McDonald sits in the eighth spot in the Southern Conference in the javelin.

On the Women's Side

Carisma Holland holds three top-ten spots in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. She ranks first in the shot put, third in the discus, and seventh in the hammer.
Mecca Jackson ranks first in the 200m dash and sixth in the 100m dash.
Tatiana Corso has two top-ten spots in the shot put and discus.
Ali Ruffin, Maddy Cardenas, Shannon Ziccarello, and Mya Dollard all rank top-ten in the javelin.
Emily Hickey ranks seventh in the Southern Conference after her record-breaking performance at the USC Open in the pole vault.
Gabby Shea heads into the weekend ranked eighth in the Southern Conference in the 800m.
