Track and Field has Multiple Top-Ten Finishes on Day 1

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams earned multiple top-ten finishes on day 1 of the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships.

Men's Results
  • JP Caglione finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 183-02.
  • Sam Blumer cleared 16-00.75 in the pole vault, earning himself a second-place finish.
  • Treonte Newton qualified for the 200m and 400m dash finals by finishing third and ninth.  
  • Devin Merrick finished in fourth place in the pole vault by clearing 14-07.25.
  • Sam Sharnas took sixth in the 10,000m run with a time of 31:24.33.
  • Mac Strunk finished sixth in the 100m and 200m dash to qualify for the finals on day 2.
  • Caleb McDonald and Ian McCorkle finished seventh and eighth in the javelin. McDonald threw 168-10, and McCorkle threw 163-02.
  • Reggie Reynolds took the ninth spot in the hammer throw with a toss of 140-4.
  • Luke Segee took ninth in the 400 hurdles to qualify for the finals with a time of 1:00.19.
  • Aidan Richter finished in tenth in 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.34.
Women's Results
  • Mecca Jackson finished second and qualified for the finals with 24.63 in the 200m dash.
  • Heidi Fortin ran a time of 39:00.59 to finish in sixth place in the 10,000m.
  • Carisma Holland and Tatiana Corso finished in sixth and ninth place in the hammer throw. Holland tossed 149-11, and Corso threw 136-02.
  • Emily Hickey earned a sixth-place finish in the pole vault by clearing 11-02.25.
  • Gabby Shea qualified for the finals in the 800m run with a time of 2:17.18.
  • Ali Ruffin finished in fourth place in the javelin with a throw of 134-10.
  • Shannon Ziccarello, Maddy Cardenas, and Mya Dollard took eighth, ninth, and tenth place in the javelin. Ziccarello threw 113-08, Cardenas threw 101-04m, and Dollard threw 100-01.
