Last Meeting Against App State
The two teams met for the final time as Southern Conference foes on Oct. 5, 2013 inside Johnson Hagood Stadium. Thomas Warren kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime to give the Bulldogs a 31-28 victory. The winning field goal was set up by a Troy Jeter interception on the Mountaineers overtime possession.

Last Visit to The Rock
The Citadel scored three rushing touchdowns and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown to open a 31-0 lead in the first half on the way to a 52-28 victory over No. 8 App State on Sept. 15, 2012. The Bulldogs did their damage on the ground as Ben Dupree ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns, while Darien Robinson ran for 113 yards and a touchdown and Rickey Anderson added 102 yards and a score. The Citadel finished the game with 463 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Brotherly Matchup
Saturday's game in Boone will feature a pair of siblings facing off for the first time. The Citadel linebacker Brian Horn is the older brother of App State wide receiver Christian Horn.

Derrick's Return to The Rock
Quarterback Peyton Derrick will be returning to place he began his collegiate career. Derrick spent two years in Boone, appearing in six games. He threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Converted a 4th-and-2 on first collegiate pass at Penn State to help send that game to overtime.

Scoreless First Half
The Citadel and Mercer played to a scoreless tie at the half on Sept. 17. It marked the first time the Bulldogs have been tied 0-0 at the half since Nov. 1, 1997 (Wofford) and Nov. 8, 1997 (at Chattanooga). The Citadel won both of those games, 7-3.

Platte Flips Field
Punter James Platte flipped the field against Mercer as five of his eight punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, including a career-long 63-yard punt that was downed at the one yard line.
