MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Citadel women's golf team opened the 2022 fall season with a 4-1 match play victory over Montreat Tuesday afternoon at the Patriots Point Links.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs picked up four victories in the first match of the season, with three of the victories coming from freshmen playing in their first match.
- Naomi Huang went back-and-forth with her opponent on the front nine before Huang won the ninth hole to go 1-up at the turn. She would push the advantage to 3-up by winning two of the first three holes on the back nine.
- Huang closed out the match, 4 and 3, after finishing with pars on the final two holes played.
- Junior Paige Gilstrap won the first of her match and did not trail in winning, 4 and 3.
- Gistrap got things going on the back nine as she won holes 11, 12 and 13 to go 4-up. She would halve the next two holes to secure the match.
- Freshman Kenzie McCallum took control of her match from the opening tee, winning five holes on the front nine.
- McCallum continued the momentum on the back nine by winning the first three holes on her way to the 7 and 5 victory.
- Freshman Maggie Parmer closed out the day by making her collegiate debut with a 4 and 2 victory.
- After dropping the first hole, Parmer responded by winning the next four holes on her way to a 2-up lead at the turn.
- The two golfers split the first four holes on the back nine before Parmer won the 15th and 16th holes to secure the match.
