CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team is ready to open up the regular season with two doubleheaders against South Carolina State on Jan. 14 and Coastal Carolina on Jan. 16.
The matches against South Carolina State will begin at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Jan. 14, and the matches against Coastal Carolina are at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Jan. 16.
Returners for The Citadel
The Citadel will have nine returners for the upcoming 2023 spring season, including
Hayden Shoemake, who played in the No. 1 singles spot for the 2022 season, and
Zvonko Bencedic, who played in the No. 2 singles spot.
Scouting South Carolina State
South Carolina State was 12-9 overall and 4-0 in conference play for the 2022 season. The Bulldogs won the MEAC Men's tennis championship last season and advanced to the NCAA Championships. In the most recent matchup, SC State defeated the Bulldogs 0-7.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina was 10-11 overall and 3-3 in conference play for the 2022 season. Coastal Carolina defeated The Citadel in a doubleheader in the most recent match-up.
