SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel's
Ali Ruffin and
Belle Hogan were named the Southern Conference Players of the Month, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
This honor marks the second time in Ruffin's career she was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month. Also, she has been named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week three times during the 2023 season.
During September, the native from Greenville, North Carolina, recorded 206 kills, averaging 4.48 per set with a .248 attack percentage and 17 service aces.
Ruffin posted a career-high 28 kills in a five-set victory over Florida A&M. She reached the 20-plus kill mark in five matches while recording nine double-doubles with double-digit digs.
Ruffin ranks second in the conference with 4.48 kills per set and seventh in the country. She ranks first in the conference in total kills of 280 and third in the country.
Belle Hogan received her first recognition as the Southern Conference Setter of the Month from the conference office. She was also named Setter of the Week twice during the 2023 season.
The junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, recorded 462 assists, averaging 10.27 assists per set. She registered back-to-back 50-assist matches against Charleston Southern and Chattanooga.
Hogan ranks first in the conference with 10.70 assists per set, ranking 17th in the country. She also ranks second in the conference in total assists with 642 and ranks 13th in the nation.
