Podium Finishes for the Bulldogs on Day One

LEXINGTON, VA. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams had two podium finishes and four broken school records. Tatiana Corso placed second in the shot put, and the men's DMR team finished in third.

On the Men's Side
  • The distance medley team of Sam Sharnas, Kane Duncan, Aidan Richter, and Andrew Smith earned bronze to earn all-conference accolades with a school record time of 10:08.97. The DMR team beat their record of 10:12.13 set in 2022.
  • Kane Duncan finished in the fourth spot in the 400m preliminaries with a time of 49.56, earning a place in the finals.
  • Solomon Ghosh tossed a PR of 46-1.50 in the shot put into earning fifth place overall.
  • Treonte Newton ran a qualifying time of 49.77 in the 400m preliminaries for the finals on day two and finished in eighth place.
  • Andrew Smith earned a spot in the mile run finals after finishing ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 4:17.58.
  • Ty Duben had a PR in the 3K with a time of 8:50.16.
On the Women's Side
  • Tatiana Corso earned the sliver in the shot put with a PR throw of 42-7.50 to earn the fifth spot all-time.
  • The distance medley team of Heidi Fortin, Gabby Shea, Leah Murray, and Emma Cunningham finished in fifth place with a school record time of 12:28.41. Beating the old record set in 2011 with a time of 12:41.23.
  • Mecca Jackson had two second-place finishes. She finished second in the 60m preliminaries with a record-breaking time of 7.66.
  • Jackson finished in second place in the 200m preliminaries with a record of 24.83, breaking her own record she set at the USC Indoor open. She will compete in both finals for the 60m and the 200m.
  • Zeniyah Lawrence earned a fourth-place finish in the 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.69 to earn second all-time.
  • Lawrence placed eighth in 200m preliminaries with a time of 25.32. Lawrence qualified for both finals on day two.
  • Cyla Byrd had a PR in the 60m with 7.87 and finished in ninth to earn the sixth spot all-time. Byrd ran a PR in the 200m with 25.81 to earn fifth all-time.
  • Yanna Cuesta placed ninth in the shot put with a put of 34-1.75.
 
Day two of the South Conference Indoor Championships will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with coverage starting at noon ET.
