Bulldogs Welcome Bears to Open SoCon Play

GAME NOTES

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel opens Southern Conference action this weekend as the Bulldogs welcome Mercer to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The series is set to get underway Friday at 6 p.m., and continue with a 2 pm. first pitch on Saturday and a 1 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

vs. Mercer
The Citadel and Mercer have met 41 times prior with the Bears holding a 26-15 advantage in the series. MU won all four matchups last season, and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings over the past three seasons.

Opening SoCon Play vs. Bears
The weekend series against Mercer marks the second-straight season the Bulldogs and Bears will meet on the opening weekend of conference play.

Sykes Delivers Big Hit
Right fielder Wells Sykes delivered the big hit against Charleston Southern as his two-run single to right center in the seventh inning providing the game-winning runs. He finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

The Bulldogs welcome No. 11 South  Carolina to Riley Park on March 28 at 7 p.m.
