Bulldogs Play in Front of Sellout Crowd

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel played in front of one of its largest crowds in recent history as the Bulldogs fell, 13-2, to No. 9 South Carolina in front of 6,307 fans Tuesday evening inside Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning as they stole a run with two outs. Thomas Rollauer started the frame with a base hit to right and found himself on third with two outs. Wells Sykes took off for second, and Rollauer broke for home, scoring without a throw.
  • The Gameocks gained the lead with four runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Caleb Denny.
  • Carolina added to the lead in the fourth on a two-run double from Jonathan French.
  • The Citadel pushed across its second run in the fourth as Wells Sykes started the inning with a base hit, can came in to score on a single to shallow center from Travis Elliott.
  • The Gamecocks broke the game open in the sixth inning with seven runs, including a three-run homer from Gavin Casas.
