Baseball Heads to Columbia to Face #20 Gamecocks

GAME NOTES

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Citadel hits the road for a midweek game for the second consecutive week as the it travels up I-26 to Columbia to take on No. 20 South Carolina on March. 7. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. The game is the first of a home-and-home series this season.

Tuesday's contest in Columbia marks the 119th meeting between the two schools dating back to 1965. The Gamecocks hold a 92-26 advantage in the series.

Crosby Jones delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Bulldogs a 4-3 victory over the Gamecocks inside Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.


8-Run First
The Bulldog offense erupted for eight runs in the first inning of the series finale against LIU. The Citadel scored the eight runs on eight hits, with five of the eight hits coming with two strikes. It was the first time the Bulldogs plated eight runs in the first inning since March 17, 2013 against Wofford.


Five Hit Day
Thomas Rollauer went 5-for-6 with three RBIs in the series finale against LIU. The five hits are the most for a Bulldog since Jeffery Brown went 5-for-5 against South Carolina on March 10, 2021.


A Run an Inning
The Bulldogs offense was consistent in the Saturday game against LIU as they scored at least one run in each of the first seven innings of the game.


All 9 With a Hit
In the 12-5 victory over LIU, all nine hitters in the starting lineup collected a hit with five of the hitters posting multi-hit games. Thomas Rollauer and Travis Lott each had three hits out of the top two spots in the lineup.


Another Reeves Quality Start
Right hander Cameron Reeves provided another quality start in the series opener against LIU as he allowed just one run on five hits and six strikeouts over 6.0 innings.


Elliott Steps In
Travis Elliott stepped in after an injury in the series opener against LIU and recorded two hits in each of the first two games of the series.


On Deck
The Bulldogs return to Riley Park to play host to Holy Cross in a three-game series March 10-12. The series opener is set for 4 p.m.
