Track and Field to Begin Outdoor Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams are set to open the 2023 outdoor season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach on Mar. 10-11.

Friday's field events begin with the men's hammer throw at 10 am, and the track events start at 10:30 am with the open sections of the running events.

Saturday's field events start with the men's discus throw at 10 am and track events with the women's 3000m.

On the Women's Side

The women's track and field team is coming off a successful indoor Southern Conference Championship.
Tatiana Corso and Mecca Jackson secured second place twice while posting personal bests.
Blythe Hehmeyer finished second to earn all-conference accolades in the pole vault by clearing her school record of 11-07.75.
Heidi Fortin broke her school record in the 5k with a time of 17:36.25.

On the Men's Side

The men's track and field team posted three all-conference accolades at the indoor Southern Conference Championships.
Reggie Reynolds placed second in the weight throw after a PR toss of 54-10.25.
Stephen Kraeling earned all-conference accolades in the high jump to earn the bronze medal after clearing 6-06.75.
The distance medley team of Sam Sharnas, Kane Duncan, Aidan Richter, and Andrew Smith earned bronze to earn all-conference accolades with a school record time of 10:08.97. The DMR team beat their record of 10:12.13 set in 2022.
