HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Citadel women's golf team completed the opening round of the 2023 Southern Conference Championships at the Moss Creek Golf Club on Hilton Head Island on Sunday.
 
The Bulldogs shot an opening-round 351.

How it Happened

• Freshman Maggie Parmer led the Bulldogs with an opening-round 85.
• She shot one stroke better on the back nine, aided by a birdie on the par-3 15^th hole.
• Megan Ikeda finished with an opening-round 88.
• Ikeda overcame a slow start on the outward nine by shooting five-over par on the back nine. She was able to secure her first birdie of the day on the par-4 16^th hole.
• Paige Gilstrap and Naomi Huang each shot an opening-round 89.
• Gilstrap had a better opening nine, getting a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole.
• Huang closed out her round by shooting one-under par over the final four holes. She birdied the par-3 17^th hole.
• Mirabella Calabrase finished her first round with a 90.

The Bulldogs will play the second round of the SoCon Championships on Monday. The Citadel will be in the first group out at 8:30 a.m.
