Weekend Weather

ESPN+
All three games against VMI will be broadcast on ESPN+.

vs. Western Carolina
The Citadel and Western Carolina have met 157 times prior with the Catamounts holding a 92-65 advantage in the series. WCU swept the two games in Cullowhee in 2021, but the Bulldogs won the series in 2019.

Last Meeting vs. Western Carolina
The Citadel got eight shutout innings from Fisher Paulsen, including a career-high 10 strikeouts, in a 3-0 victory in the series finale at Riley Park.

Starling Named Pitcher of Week
Right hander Gant Starling was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one unearned run over 9.1 innings in three outings. He allowed just seven hits and struck out seven on the week.

Bullpen Shines Against VMI
The Citadel only needed two arms out of the bullpen in the series against VMI, but those two arms were impressive. The duo of Gant Starling and Conner Cummiskey combined to allow just one run on eight hits and eight strikeouts over 11.2 innings.

Crosby Multi-Hit Games
Crosby Jones put together a string of four-straight multi-hit games that started with the series finale at NC State. It carried over into the midweek game against Charleston Southern and the first two game of the VMI series.

Series Win Over VMI
The Bulldogs took the first two games of the series against VMi to secure their first series win over the Keydets since the 2019 season.

Elliott RBI Double
Infielder Travis Elliott had a RBI double in his first at-bat in three-straight games last week. He opened the week with a RBI double to left at Charleston Southern, and followed it up with a RBI double to left center in the series opener against VMI and a double to the gap in right center in Saturday's game.

18 Hits
The Bulldogs pounded out a season-high 18 hits in the 9-4 victory over VMI. Every player in the lineup had at least one hit, with seven of the nine players having multi-hit games.

Reeves Reaches Seven Wins
Right hander Cameron Reeves went seven strong against VMI to earn his seventh win of the season. The seven wins are the most for a Bulldog since current Oakland A's left hander JP Sears won seven games for the Dogs in 2017.

Starling Secures Save
Gant Starling recorded his second save of the season after throwing two shutout innings to secure the victory over VMI in the series opener. He allowed a leadoff walk in the ninth, but got a double play on the next pitch to stop any momentum.

Jones Delivers Late Insurance
After VMI pulled within a run in the series opener, Crosby Jones took back the momentum in the home-half of the inning as he hit a solo homer to push the lead to 5-3.

On Deck
The Bulldogs play their final midweek game of the season as they cross the Ravenel Bridge to take on the College of Charleston on May 16 at 6 p.m.
