Bulldogs Rally Back Against VMI

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Bulldogs rally in the late innings in a 5-2 victory over VMI in the opening round of the 2023 Southern Conference Baseball Championships at Flour Field.

How it Happened
  • VMI would score first with a SAC bunt RBI from Trey Morgan.
  • The Bulldogs got on the board in the sixth inning from a Matthew Lively single through the right side that scored Wells Sykes and Travis Elliott.
  • VMI would answer back in the bottom of the sixth with a fielder's choice RBI that scored one.
  • Lively tallied his third RBI of the game with a single to shallow center that scored Elliott to give the Bulldogs the 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth.
  • The Bulldogs would add two more in the eighth with a Thomas Rollauer single to right field that scored Lively and Sykes to extend the lead to 5-2.
