CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel head volleyball coach
Dave Zelenock announced the team's 2023 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The 29-match schedule features four tournaments before getting into Southern Conference match play in late September.
The Bulldogs will open up the 2023 season with the Bash at the Beach hosted by Bethune-Cookman. The Citadel will face Marshall and Bethune-Cookman on Aug 25.
On Aug. 29th, The Citadel will have its home opener against the College of Charleston at McAlister Field House.
September features three more tournaments, starting on Sept. 1-2 at the Jacksonville Invitational (FAMU, Jacksonville, and Northern Arizona). The Bulldogs head to Charlotte, N.C., to play in the Queens Fall Classic on Sept. 8-9 (Queens, UNC Asheville, and SC State) and finish tournament play at the Buccaneer Invitational on Sept. 15-16. (FAMU, SC State, and Charleston Southern)
The Bulldogs begin conference play on the road against Chattanooga on Sept. 22 and then travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford on Sept. 23.
The Bulldogs welcome Western Carolina on Sept. 27 and Mercer on Oct. 1 at McAlister Field House for the conference home openers.
The remaining Southern Conference home matches include Wofford (Oct. 7), Samford (Oct. 20), Chattanooga (Oct. 21), UNCG (Nov. 4), ETSU (Nov. 10), and Furman (Nov. 11).
The rest of the road Southern Conference matches for the Bulldogs include UNCG (Oct. 5), Furman (Oct. 13), ETSU (Oct. 14), Mercer (Oct. 27), Western Carolina (Oct. 28), and Wofford (Nov. 2)
