The Bulldogs Remain Perfect After Victory Over Charleston Southern

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel Volleyball team defeated Charleston Southern 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 11-25, 15-11) on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated at 12-0.

How it Happened
  • The Citadel jumped to an early 5-3 lead from an Angelina Sayles kill.
  • Charleston Southern responded to narrow the Bulldogs' lead at 7-6, but a kill from Gina Delancey sparked a 5-0 run that gave The Citadel the 12-6 advantage.
  • A kill from Maddy Cardenas and an attack error from the Bucs gave the Bulldogs the 16-9 lead.
  • The Bulldogs' lead would grow to much as ten at 22-12, but Charleston Southern went on a 7-0 scoring run to reduce the deficient at 22-19.
  • The kill from Cardenas ended the Bucs' chances in the first set at 25-20.
  • Charleston Southern started with the lead at 6-3 to begin the second set, but back-to-back attack errors committed by Charleston Southern allowed the Bulldogs to be tied at 6-6.
  • Kills by Ali Ruffin, Belle Hogan, and Mackenzie Martin's service ace gave the Bulldogs a 12-11 lead.
  • The Bulldogs, late in the set, had the advantage at 21-17 from a Sayles' kill.
