Second-Half Surge Fuels The Citadel Comeback Bid, Dispatches Terriers 30-17

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Highlighted by a pair of Johnathan Bennett-to-Javonte Graves-Billips touchdown connections as well as a second-half defensive shutout, The Citadel (5-6, 3-5 SoCon) powered past in-state rival Wofford (5-6, 3-5 SoCon) in both programs' Southern Conference capstone matchups, upending the Terriers behind a 30-17 decision en route to reclaiming the Big Dog Bowl Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium.

KEY NOTES
-- Bennett concluded the contest 11-for-18 through the air for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns, hitting Graves-Billips on both scoring tosses; the grad transfer also contributed 49 yards on 11 carries as well
-- On the ground, Cooper Wallace paced the Bulldogs' rushing attack off nine carries for 84 yards, notably breaking away on a 54-yard carry up the middle for the key go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter; Garrison Johnson also added 35 yards on 10 carries while Corey Ibrahim accumulated 18 yards behind seven rushes
-- For the receiving corps, Graves-Billips led the group with four catches for 68 yards, pulling down a 33-yarder early in the second quarter for his first score before helping the Bulldogs capitalize on a Wofford turnover via a 23-yard TD reception near the start of the fourth; additionally, both Tyler Cherry (45 yards) and Dervon Pesnell (28 yards) racked up key catches on the day as well
-- Defensively, Cale Williams set the tone with seven total tackles while Evan Byrd contributed another five; notably, the latter also forced a game-changing fumble early in the fourth quarter, opening the door for a Josh Cole recovery; Jeremiah Holmes also composed a strong day for the Bulldogs, posting his first sack of the season while also swiping an interception
-- Ben Barnes returned to his usual form on a 3-for-4 day on field goals, hitting on 44-yarder and a 39-yarder in the first half as well as a chip shot 28-yarder in the third before missing on a deep 52-yard try late in the fourth
