Bulldogs Fall in Extras Against VMI

LEXINGTON, VA. – The Citadel lost a close game in extra innings against the VMI Keydets, 6-5, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • The Citadel scored the game's first run from a fielder's choice RBI from Wells Sykes, scoring Sawyer Reeves.
  • VMI recorded three runs in the bottom of the third with two solo home runs and an RBI single, making it 3-1.
  • Travis Lott tallied an RBI double in the top of the fourth, scoring Garrett Fulmer and narrowing the lead to 3-2.
  • Brett Cook, for VMI, hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-2.
  • The Bulldogs narrowed the Keydets' lead to just one after an Anthony Hausner RBI single to right field and an RBI groundout from Reeves, making it 5-4.
  • Reeves came in clutch for The Citadel with an RBI single to right field to tie the game at 5-5.
