CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team tied the match on three occasions but were topped by Wofford in a seven-goal second half, 4-3.
How It Happened:
48' – WOF scored early in the second half after a one-on-one save snuck loose to let Childress score in the empty net.
55' – CIT tied it with a PK goal by
Elisa Fuentes, her second of the season.
56' – WOF responded quickly with Childress' second marker.
57' – This time CIT answered fast as
Chloe Washington finished a free ball in the box on a semi-breakaway, her fourth of the year.
71' – Off a corner, Obradovac snuck one in the low left corner as the Bulldogs were unable to clear the box after several blocked shots.
76' – Washington's cross into the 18' was headed into the bottom left corner by
Maggie Melogy to once again knot the match.
77' – Moments later, on another 50-50 ball inside the 18', Childress earned the hat trick and the game-winner.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Citadel falls to 5-18-3 all-time against Wofford.
- Celeste Nader played the full 90 for the seventh time in 11 matches.
- The Bulldog scored at least three times in a conference match since beating VMI on 10/25/22.
