SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore defender
Charlotte Seay has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Seay earned the honor following her standout performance in The Citadel's thrilling 2–1 victory over Chattanooga on October 10 at Shea Family Field in Awendaw, S.C. The Jacksonville, Florida native scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute just moments after Chattanooga had equalized to lift the Bulldogs to their second SoCon win of the season.
Along with her offensive impact, Seay anchored The Citadel's defensive line and played a key role in limiting Chattanooga's scoring chances throughout the full 90 minutes.
This marks the first Southern Conference weekly honor of Seay's collegiate career and the second weekly award earned by the Bulldogs this season.
Seay and the Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, October 16, traveling to UNCG for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
