SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel fell in straight sets to Wofford (15-25, 14-25, 17-25) on Saturday inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium
Rachel Reininger led the Bulldogs with 12 kills, followed by
Gwen Berry with six and
Alexa Psotka with four. Reininger posted a team-high .310 hitting percentage.
Lydia Larson dished out 11 assists, while
Mia Watson had 10 for the Bulldogs.
Bradley Brown led the Terriers with ten kills.
Set 1
The Terriers jumped to a 7-2 lead over the Bulldogs with a 4-0 run early in the first set. Wofford built a ten-point advantage at 19-9. The Citadel managed to narrow the gap to seven at 20-13, but it wasn't enough as the Terriers won the first set 25-15.
Set 2
Two attack errors from The Citadel gave the Terriers a 6-3 lead to start the second set. A 5-0 run from Wofford increased their lead to 18-9, which was enough to keep the Bulldogs out of reach and secure the second set at 25-14.
Set 3
Wofford took an early 8-2 lead, but the Bulldogs managed to cut the gap to 11-9 on a kill from Reininger and a poor set from Wofford. Wofford's lead grew to eight at 20-12, but Wofford was able to take the set and the match at 25-17.
