CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel split their doubleheader matchup with a 5-4 win and a 4-2 loss against Northwestern on Saturday inside Joe Riley Park. The Citadel holds the series record at 2-1.
Game One

How It Happened
- Northwestern hit five doubles in the first inning, scoring three runs to make it 3-0.
- Phillips Daniels led off with a triple, allowing Travis Elliott to drive him in with an RBI ground out, which narrowed the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the first inning.
- Elliott hit a two-RBI single up the middle, tying the game at 3-3 for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the second inning.
- Trent Liolios hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth to give the Wildcats back the lead at 4-3.
- The Citadel scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth.

- Northwestern scored the first run of the game from a Jack Counsell ground rule RBI double in the top of the second.
- The Wildcats increased their lead by two runs from a SAC-fly RBI to make it 2-0 in the top of the third.
- Counsell recorded an RBI single up the middle for the Wildcats to make it 3-0 in the fourth.
- Garrett Fulmer hit one past the third baseman for an RBI single, scoring Garrett Dill, to get the Bulldogs on the board at 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
- Northwestern added a run in the top of the eighth to increase their lead to 4-1.
- The Citadel had a chance in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on, but the Bulldogs grounded into a double play to end the game at 4-1.
