- Western Michigan tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning with a solo home run from Dylan Nevar.
- The Broncos gained a one-run lead at 2-1 in the fourth inning, thanks to an RBI single from Nevar.
- The Citadel scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning, beginning with an error made by the Broncos that allowed Lane Tobin to score.
