Six Bulldogs Record Multi-Hit Game in 8-7 Victory Over UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Citadel recorded 17 hits, with six Bulldogs achieving multiple hits in an 8-7 victory over UNCG in the series opener. Aryan Patel led the way with four hits.

How It Happened
  • The Bulldogs took the lead in the first inning by scoring three runs. Anthony Hausner pushed in the first run with an RBI single to the left side, bringing in Phillips Daniels.  
  • Thomas Rollauer dropped a sacrifice bunt, advancing Hausner to second and scoring TJ Anderson at third to make it 2-0.  
  • Lane Tobin drove in the third run with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Hauser.
  • The Spartans got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run from Brantley Truitt.
  • The Bulldogs added two more runs in the top of the third inning with an RBI groundout from Garrett Dill and Hausner, extending their lead to 5-1.  
  • UNCG cut the Bulldogs' lead to three runs at 5-2 with an RBI single to left in the bottom of the third.  
  • TJ Anderson drove in a run for the Bulldogs in the top of the fourth with an RBI double to left center, scoring Aryan Patel.
  • The Bulldogs held a five-run advantage, leading 7-2 in the sixth inning, thanks to an RBI sacrifice fly from Phillips Daniels.  
  • The Spartans scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning from a bases-clearing RBI triple, an RBI single, and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded, tying the game at 7-7.
  •  The Bulldogs regained the lead in the top of the eighth inning with a sacrifice bunt from TJ Anderson, making it 8-7.

  • The Citadel scored eight runs on 17 hits. The Bulldogs have accumulated 32 hits in their last two games, including 15 on Sunday against VMI.  
  • The Citadel is currently on a five-game winning streak, marking the second time this season that the Bulldogs have achieved a five-game winning streak.
  • The Bulldogs' eighth conference victory is the most since 2018.  
  • Six Bulldogs had a multi-hit day, including Aryan Patel, who went 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, and two singles, marking the first four-hit game of Patel's career.
  • Phillips Daniels went 3-for-3 in the lead-off spot.
  • TJ Anderson recorded two hits and two RBIs, bringing his season total to 16. He scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning from a sacrifice bunt.  
  • Lane Tobin continues his hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-4. Tobin is 10-for-16 since last week against Charleston Southern and VMI.
  • Anthony Hausner drove in two runs and had two hits.
  • Thomas Rollauer posted two hits and drove in a run.
  • Maddox Webb (4-0) recorded a win after throwing 3.1 innings, striking out three, and allowing two hits.
  • Danny Thompson Jr. (2-2) records the loss for the Spartans after throwing 3.0 innings and allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth.
