MBB Preview: Bulldogs, Spartans Meet in SoCon Matchup

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel (7–15, 4–5 SoCon) hosts UNC Greensboro (6–11, 2–2 SoCon) on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McAlister Field House in Southern Conference play. Tipoff is now scheduled for Noon ET and the game will stream on ESPN+.

Scouting The Citadel
The Bulldogs last took the floor Thursday night, earning an 80–56 win over VMI, with five players scoring in double figures and The Citadel leading for the majority of the contest. The last time the Bulldogs faced UNC Greensboro, the Spartans secured a 69–66 overtime victory on Jan. 15 in Greensboro, with the game tied at the end of regulation before UNCG pulled ahead in the extra period.

Through 22 games, Braxton Williams leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 13.3 points per game and has recorded double-figure scoring performances in 11 of his last 16 games. Christian Moore is averaging 11.3 points per contest and is coming off his third 20-point performance of the season. Carter Kingsbury returned to the hardwood last game, continuing a stretch that includes four 15-point performances in his last six games. Moore has recorded multiple three-point field goals in 16 games this season, including five made three-pointers Thursday night against VMI. Sola Adebisi leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 rebounds per game and ranks among the team leaders defensively with 22 blocked shots. Adebisi has recorded at least one block in 13 of his last 16 games and ranks fifth in the Southern Conference in blocks per game.

Scouting UNC Greensboro
UNC Greensboro enters Saturday's matchup at 8–14 overall and 4–5 in Southern Conference play. The Spartans split their two most recent games, earning an 85–78 road win at VMI before falling 89–66 at home to Furman.

Through 22 games, UNCG is averaging 74.6 points per game and shooting 35.7 percent from three-point range. The Spartans lead the SoCon in free throw attempts (24.7 per game) and free throws made (17.0 per game).

Justin Neely leads UNCG in scoring at 16.6 points per game and rebounding at 11.8 rebounds per contest. KJ Younger is averaging 13.7 points per game, while Donald Whitehead Jr. contributes 11.8 points per contest and averages 2.5 assists per game. Valentino Pinedo leads the Spartans defensively with 19 blocked shots.
