MARTIN, Tenn. — The Citadel (8-9) secured the the three-game series with UT-Martin (9-10) behind an 8-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
Miles Barbrey scored twice, drove in a pair of runs and swiped two bases, good for his second straight game with multiple runs and hits.
Zach Hunt contributed a home run while
Aryan Patel collected two hits and crossed the plate twice.
Jacob Deacon started for The Citadel, pitching 1.1 innings while allowing two hits, one earned run, and issuing two walks while striking out one batter.
Andrew Buffkin followed, tossing 1.2 frames and giving up three runs on two hits.
CJ Van Slooten delivered a season-high three scoreless innings with no hits, three strikeouts, and three walks.
Trip Brown added a frame of action, surrendering just one hit and recording a strikeout.
Michael Gibson finished with two perfect innings, striking out four to secure the save.
For the Skyhawks, Cameron Greene had three hits and drove in two. Maxwell Schumacher took the loss after pitching 7.0 innings, allowing eight hits and three earned runs.
"We didn't play great in any phase of the game, but these guys made big pitches with runners on base and some great defensive plays when we needed them," said head coach

Zach Hunt and
Matthew Lively had two good swings that produced runs. The bunt game and execution helped us extend the lead. We have been struggling to finish games on the road. Our guys stepped up and played their best at the end of both games to win the series."
Next, the Bulldogs travel to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia on Tuesday, March 17, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
