LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Citadel Bulldogs (5-8) took an early lead following a five-run second inning, but No. 21 Kentucky (14-2) responded with eight runs over four late frames en route to 13-5 decision Sunday at Kentucky Proud Park.

Phillips Daniels led The Citadel with three hits and two RBIs, a season-high for the latter. Jayden Williams contributed with a hit, an RBI, and a walk while also crossing the plate once. Sam Dansky scored a run and added an RBI, drawing two walks. Aryan Patel delivered two hits and scored once.

Andrew Bowers started on the mound for the Bulldogs, pitching one inning and allowing four hits and four earned runs with one strikeout. Jackson Bottar provided relief, tossing 3.0 innings while giving up four hits and three earned runs and striking out a pair.

CJ Van Slooten logged 2.2 innings, allowing four hits and three unearned runs with two strikeouts. Kaden Kiser faced five batters in a third of a frame, giving up two hits and two earned runs with one walk. Liam Foley closed out the game with 1.0 inning, allowing two hits and one earned run.

Kentucky's offense was led by Ethan Hindle, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Jack Bennett earned the win with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief, allowing four hits and striking out three.

"Tough weekend. If we handle this right, there are a lot of lessons to learn," head coach Russell Triplett said. "It's still early with a lot of ball left to play. This team will continue to get better."

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play South Carolina next on March 10 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park with first pitch set for 7 p.m. ET.
