CHARLESTON, S.C. -- As Kirkman Broadcasting begins its 43rd year as the radio home of The Citadel Bulldogs, the network has announced Robbie Briggs as the new football color analyst beginning with the 2026 season.

A former Bulldog linebacker, The Citadel graduate, longtime coach and dedicated supporter of The Citadel football program, Briggs brings a wealth of football knowledge, championship experience and a unique understanding of what it means to represent the Bulldog brand. Briggs will be paired with play-by-play voice Brian Giffin, who begins his fourth season calling Bulldog athletics and his 19th year broadcasting college sports. Together, Giffin and Briggs will bring listeners insight, analysis and perspective throughout The Citadel football season.

Briggs takes over the color analyst role following the outstanding contributions of Lee Glaze, a The Citadel Athletic Hall of Famer and longtime member of The Citadel Bulldogs Radio Network.

A native of Rock Hill, S.C., Briggs was raised in Manning, where he graduated from Manning High School in 1989. A standout linebacker for the Monarchs, Briggs was a four-year starter and finished his high school career as the Most Valuable Player of Manning's 1988 Class AAA State Championship team. Briggs signed with The Citadel in 1989 and went on to become a four-year letterman at linebacker for the Bulldogs. As a senior, he earned Defensive Player of the Game honors against Army, VMI and Chattanooga. In 1992, he ranked second on the team with 118 tackles while recording three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

After graduating from The Citadel in 1993 with a degree in political science, Briggs earned his Master of Arts in teaching degree for history in 1995. He also served as a graduate assistant coach with the Bulldogs during the 1993 season. Briggs has remained closely connected to his alma mater, serving on The Citadel Football Association board beginning in 2019 and handling the role as president from 2020 through 2024.

"We're thrilled to add someone of Robbie's Citadel background, as well as football pedigree here in South Carolina," Gil Kirkman said. "Replacing a The Citadel Hall of Famer like Lee Glaze isn't easy, but we're excited to have Robbie's expertise on our broadcasts."

The Citadel Bulldogs Radio Network can be heard throughout the season on 102.1 The City and OldSkool 92.1 in Charleston and 100.7 FM, 1470 AM The Point in Columbia, as well as WDXY AM and FM in Sumter, continuing Kirkman Broadcasting's proud tradition of bringing Bulldog football to fans across South Carolina for more than four decades.
