KEY NOTES
-- Offensively, the Bulldogs outgained Charleston Southern behind a 308-to-188 margin
-- For the sixth time in seven games, The Citadel racked up over 200 yards of rushing offense, registering 235 yards on the day with just one score
-- Individually, Gavin Garcia set the tone with 23 rushes for 84 yards along with the lone touchdown; Quentin Hayes added 19 rushes for 67 yards of his own while Michael Lorino earned his first action in the back field via seven carries for 36 yards
-- Through the air, Hayes finished 3-of-14 for 73 yards with one touchdown and an interception
-- For the receiving corps, three different wideouts caught passes on the day, including Lorino on a 33-yard scoring grab to open the game, Braylon Knauth on a 31-yard first-down toss and Ismael Zamor on a nine-yard pickup
-- Defensively, the Bulldogs logged a season-best 6.0 sacks during the contest, setting CSU back a combined 60 yards total; notably, the 6.0-sack performance serves as the most for the program since 2022 against Virginia-Lynchburg (6.0) as well as the top mark against a Division I opponent since a 2019 victory over Western Carolina (6.0)
-- Additionally, The Citadel compiled 13.0 tackles-for-loss against the Buccaneers as well, a first since Virginia-Lynchburg in 2022 (15.0) and the best showing against a Division I adversary since, coincidentally, a 2018 win over Charleston Southern (13.0)
-- Individually, Zyion Brown paced the pack for the second consecutive game, once again breaching the double-digit tackle mark with 10.0 total stops, including 2.0 tackles-for-loss with 1.0 recorded as a sack; Jalen Wright contributed 7.0 tackles of his own with 1.0 sack as well; finally, Maurice Bonneau Jr. and D'Angelo Sheppard each tallied 2.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 of which counted towards the sack total
-- The Citadel managed to keep the turnover margin even with a late fumble recovery courtesy of Khaleb Bridges, who forced the fumble, and Temarcus Elam, who secured the takeaway
-- For the special teams unit, Evan Kiely drilled his first two field goal attempts as a Bulldog, hitting from 45 and 37 yards, respectively, before missing on a 43-yarder in double overtime
-- Jack Weil averaged 40.3 yards per punt as well across three kicks while also suffering his second block of the season early in the matchup
-- For the game, The Citadel owned the time-of-possession margin via a 34:10-to-25:50 differential
-- Further, the Bulldogs wrapped up the game 5-of-16 on third down, 2-of-3 on fourth down, including a key conversion during the first overtime, and a perfect 2-of-2 inside the red zone
-- With the loss, The Citadel surrendered the Lowcountry Boil Bowl trophy to Charleston Southern, a relatively new award created in 2024 ahead of the Bulldogs' 22-21 victory over the Buccaneers
