After spending 20 years as a high school coach in the Lowcountry, Joe Call enters his second season as the assistant to the head coach at his alma mater. He will add game day management responsibilities in 2023.

Call returned to The Citadel after serving as the head coach at Oceanside Collegiate Academy for two seasons. He led the Landsharks to a 14-6 record and a pair of trips to the postseason. In 2021, OCA reached the 3A lower state finals.

Prior to his time at OCA, Call spent 17 years at Summerville High School. After serving as an assistant coach, Call took over for his legendary grandfather, John McKissick.

In five years as the head coach, Call led the Green Wave to a 38-20 record and the 2018 5A lower state final.

Call played quarterback for the Bulldogs from 1999-2002. In his career, he threw for 949 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for one touchdown.

Call graduated from The Citadel in 2002.
