Jackson Kaplan was named Director of Creative Content at The Citadel in March 2023. In his role, he is responsible for producing videos for all Bulldog athletic programs including creative video content for social media, in-venue videos for home events, and sponsorship videos.

A Raleigh, NC native, Kaplan returned home to the Southeast after serving as the Assistant Director of Video Production for Drake University athletics in Des Moines, IA starting in April 2022. At Drake, Kaplan assisted with the production of all live ESPN broadcasts, in-venue video board shows, creative content, and the creation of hype videos.

Prior to his arrival at Drake, Kaplan was a video production assistant and broadcaster at Gardner-Webb University from October 2021 to February 2022.

Before transitioning to video production, Kaplan spent five years as a play-by-play broadcaster. He started at UNC Charlotte in the fall of 2017 as a student calling 49er baseball, softball, volleyball, men’s soccer and women’s soccer games.

Kaplan also was a collegiate summer baseball broadcaster. He was the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League in the summer of 2017.

After that, Kaplan spent the next two summers in the Midwest as a summer baseball broadcaster for two different franchises in the Northwoods League, the Green Bay Bullfrogs in 2018 and the Kalamazoo Growlers in 2019.

Kaplan got his start in collegiate athletics in his first two years as a college student at Wingate University, a NCAA Division II member from August 2015 to May 2016.

Kaplan served as a student assistant in the athletic communications department where he wrote game recaps, game previews and athlete feature stories for official athletics website.

He also served as an ESPN production assistant for the Wingate Sports Network. Kaplan was on the production crew for the first ever ESPN3 broadcast at a NCAA Division II school in history in August 2015.

Kaplan graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. He currently resides in Charleston with his wife Kennedy and two cats Leo and Luka.
