CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Nine victories, including three major decisions and a technical fall, led Southern Conference preseason favorite Chattanooga to a 33-3 victory over The Citadel on Friday evening at Maclellan Gym.

Chattanooga (8-5, 3-0 SoCon) extended its winning streak to 18 straight in league action, while the Bulldogs slipped to 4-5 overall and 2-2 against conference foes.

The Mocs opened with a series of wins by Sean Boyle (125) and Nick Soto (133), both ranked 12
th in their respective weight classes. Boyle earned 10-2 major decision over
Joaquin Marquez, while
Aaron Hansen fell in a 10-2 decision to Soto.

Chattanooga's lead ballooned to 13-0 following victories by Michael Pongracz (141), who defeated Tyler Buckiso 2-1, and Shawn Greevy (149). Greevy, who emerged with a 3-1 win against two-time NCAA qualifier
Matt Frisch, notched his second win over The Citadel junior this season.

The Citadel's lone win of the match came courtesy of
Aaron Walker in the 157 classification. Walker, an NCAA qualifier, posted a 10-4 decision over Austin Sams 10-4 to make for a 13-3 overall score.

Chattanooga responded by winning the next five straight matches beginning with an upset in the 165-pound weight class by when freshman Justin Lampe. Lampe managed to pin
Andrew Lock at the 2:11 mark to push the score to 19-3.

With the momentum shifting back to the Mocs, Sean Mappes (174) posted a 7-3 decision over
Kenneth Radford. John Shrader (184) notched the second major decision of the match, 9-0, when he brought down
Jack Duane. Those wins allowed Chattanooga's advantage in the team score to reach 26-3.

The 197-pound bout was a rematch of the 2014 SoCon championship match between Scottie Boykin and
Marshall Haas. Haas earned the win a year ago, but this time Boykin managed a pair of takedowns en route to a 5-2 decision.

The match concluded with an 8-0 major decision in the heavyweight classification by Jared Johnson over
Joe Bexley.

The Bulldogs next match will take place at McAlister Field House against SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.
