Quinton Marshall poured in a career-high 26 points to lead six Bulldogs in double figures.
Junior
Brian White recorded 17 points and pulled in nine rebounds while
P.J. Boutte stuffed the box score with 16 points, five assists and a career-high five steals. Freshman
Connor Schroeder also chipped in 14 points in just six minutes of action off the bench as 11 different Bulldogs found the scoring column.
As a team, The Citadel shot 51.7 percent on 19 assists, drilling 13 three-pointers in the rout. The Bulldogs outscored Bob Jones by 33 in the final 20 minutes of the game with 65 points in the second half. The 65 points fell one shy of tying a program record for most points in a second half. Defensively, head coach
Duggar Baucom's team forced 34 Bob Jones turnovers, scoring 49 points off those miscues.
The Bulldogs grabbed a 4-2 lead at the 18:04 mark of the opening frame and stayed in front for the remainder of the game. Bob Jones managed to stay within 10 throughout the first half as The Citadel took a 56-49 advantage into the break. Baucom's squad set the tone to begin the second half with a suffocating 22-4 run fueled by pestering defense.
Freshman
Quayson Williams launched the momentum-changing run with a three-pointer. The Bulldogs' next five made field goals came via layup, with seven Bob Jones turnovers over a four-minute stretch setting up easy buckets for The Citadel. Marshall capped his career night with a jumper and a pair of three-pointers after the run, extended his squad's lead to 86-61.
The Bulldogs never looked back and pushed the advantage to 40 by the final buzzer, sealing their second game this season scoring more than 120 points. The Citadel will look to finish the Palmetto State Shootout with a perfect 3-0 mark when it takes on host USC-Upstate on Saturday at 2 p.m.
