CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel plays its third former Southern Conference rival in the opening four weeks of the 2015 season this weekend when Elon visits Riley Park for a three-game set.
The series gets underway at 4 p.m. on Friday, an earlier start to avoid colder temperatures later that evening. The Bulldogs and Phoenix then play on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Please check citadelsports.com or our Facebook and Twitter pages for any possible weather-induced schedule changes.
All three games can be viewed on the

The Citadel (5-6) has already played former SoCon rivals College of Charleston and Georgia Southern and will be looking to reverse a recent Elon domination in the series. The Phoenix has won 13 of the last 15 matchups to take a 26-19 lead in the all-time series. A year ago, Elon swept the regular season set at home, but the Bulldogs won 10-7 at Riley Park in the SoCon Tournament.
Freshman left-hander
JP Sears will be on the mound for The Citadel in the series opener. The junior right-hander combination of
Austin Mason and
Austin Livingston will work on Saturday followed by junior southpaw
James Reeves on Sunday. Reeves will be making his return to the rotation after missing his start against Alabama State last weekend with the flu.
Elon enters the weekend with a record of 6-3 after an 8-3 win over Davidson on Wednesday. The Phoenix departed the SoCon for the Colonial Athletic Association following the 2013-14 academic year. Sophomore righty Matt Harris will pitch Game 1 for Elon, and the Phoenix is undecided on its rotation for the remainder of the series.
