CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team will travel up the coast to Hampton, Virginia, this weekend for the two-day Virginia Duals tournament. The 12-team tournament will be held at the Hampton Coliseum and is the second event of seven in the month of January for the Bulldogs.

The Citadel finished in third place in the Poquoson River Pool last year behind Virginia and Rider and were led by
Matt Frisch who collected a team-best four wins.

This year The Citadel will compete in the Hampton River Pool which consists of Bucknell and No. 5 Virginia Tech. The Bulldogs will open the tournament with a 9 a.m. match on Friday against Bucknell on mat two and then make a quick turnaround to face Virginia Tech at 11 a.m., also on mat two. This will be the Bulldogs' eighth appearance in the Duals, and they currently hold a 7-17 record in the tournament.

Other ranked teams in the Duals this year include No. 18 Iowa State and No. 24 Old Dominion.

The Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SoCon) come into the Duals after facing a tough field at the Southern Scuffle last weekend.

Aaron Walker and Frisch all finished the tournament with a 2-2 record with Frisch advancing to the quarterfinals before being handed his first loss in the Scuffle and knocked to the consolation bracket. Â
