Cross Country to Run at VertCross Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – In the final race before the Southern Conference Championships, The Citadel cross country teams will compete at the VertCross Invitational in Kernersville, North Carolina on Friday.
The race will be at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex hosted by High Point University. The evening event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 8K, followed by the women's 6K race at 5:15 p.m. Â
The Bulldogs return to action after a week off from competition. Their last meet was on Oct. 1 at the Upstate Invitational. Michael Lantz led the Bulldogs that day, placing second among Division I runners. The junior finished the 8K course in a time of 25:13.82 to set a new personal best in the distance.
At the VertCross Invitational, the Bulldogs will compete against 25 other Division I programs including Appalachian State, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Davidson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Elon, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, High Point, Longwood, Marshall, NC State, Northern Kentucky, Radford, Richmond, UNC Asheville, UNC Wilmington, USC Upstate, VMI, Western Carolina and Wofford.
The event will be the final competition for the Bulldogs before competing at the SoCon Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Oct. 28.
Results from the race will be available at CitadelSports.com upon completion of the event.
