CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team will host its final Southern Conference dual when it faces Chattanooga on Friday at 6 p.m. inside McAlister Field House.
 
Chattanooga dropped out of the NCAA wrestling polls this week following a 22-15 defeat at the hands of Appalachian State. The Mocs are 10-4 overall and 5-1 in SoCon action and are currently locked in a three-way tie for first place in the SoCon with Appalachian State and Gardner-Webb.
 
Chattanooga is led by No. 11 Jared Johnson at the 285 weight class. Johnson is 19-4 this year, 5-1 in SoCon action and has the second best record in the conference this season. At 197 pounds, Marshall Haas will square off with Scottie Boykin (16-6, 6-0) in a rematch of the third-place match at the Wolfpack Open on Nov 22nd. Haas (22-9, 6-0) defeated then 18th-ranked Boykin by a 3-1 decision to take home third-place honors. Aaron Walker will face Kamaal Shakur who holds a 21-5 record. Walker is first in the SoCon at 157 pounds with a 24-5 record with Shakur following closely behind. Both are 6-0 in the SoCon.
 
The Citadel comes into the Friday dual after splitting contests last weekend against Gardner-Webb and Davidson. The Bulldogs fell to Gardner-Webb in the first dual of the weekend, 28-12, but then bounced back to collect a 29-16 win over Davidson. The Bulldogs recorded four pins last weekend between the two contests. Haas was the only Bulldog to win by fall against Gardner-Webb, pinning Gray Jones in 3:24, and then the senior recorded his second pin of the weekend two days later in 1:26. Ty Buckiso and Walker also recorded pins against Davidson.
