SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Citadel basketball team fell to Wofford 99-89 on the road on Saturday night. The Bulldogs scored 52 second-half points and pulled within five at one point after falling down 57-41, but the Terriers made 22 free throws in the final 20 minutes to stave off a comeback by The Citadel.

Senior
Derrick Henry poured in a team-high 23 points to secure his 10th 20+-point performance of the season.

Brian White (13 points) and
Quayson Williams (11 points) joined Henry in double figures to lead the Bulldogs. Senior
Quinton Marshall also chipped in nine rebounds, six points, four steals and three assists in his 27th start of the season.

Defensively, the Bulldogs forced 16 Wofford turnovers. The Terriers entered Saturday averaging just 11.5 turnovers per game. The Citadel collected 13 steals as a team and set a new program record for total steals in a single season with 257 swipes and counting.

Head coach
Duggar Baucom's squad rebounded from a tough first half that saw Wofford shoot 20-of-34 from the floor (58.8 percent). The Terriers led 52-37 at the break after Spencer Collins beat the buzzer with a fadeaway jumper.

The Bulldogs fell down by 16 at the 18:10 mark of the second half, but rode its pestering defense to an inspired comeback. Freshman
Connor Schroeder caught fire from beyond the arc to get The Citadel going offensively. He made two quick three-pointers and finished with nine points off the bench to cut the Bulldogs' deficit to 10.

The Citadel went on to force four Wofford turnovers over the next two minutes of game clock and capitalized with easy baskets in transition. The fourth turnover came via a steal that fell in the hands of senior point guard
P.J. Boutte, who raced down court and dumped off an assist between his legs to a streaking Marshall for a slam dunk. The highlight reel play capped a 13-2 run that cut Wofford's lead to 59-54 with 14:26 left.

The Terriers regained the momentum with clutch shots and built another double-digit edge. Henry answered for the Bulldogs by scoring 15 of his 23 points in the final 10 minutes. His three-pointer brought his squad back to within 88-79 at the 5:16 mark. The Citadel got as close as seven after a pair of Henry free throws, but Wofford polished off the victory at the charity stripe.

The Citadel now returns to McAlister Field House for its final two home games of the season. The Bulldogs host East Tennessee State on Feb. 18 and Western Carolina on Feb. 20. Saturday's game is both Senior Day and the final Pack The Mac event of the season. VisitÂ
