CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel baseball team dropped the first game of its midweek series with No. 19 Clemson 12-1 inside Joe Riley Park on Tuesday.

Tuesday evening's announced attendance of 5,524 is the second-largest crowd to see the Bulldogs play this season. The Citadel's home game against South Carolina on March 1 attracted 6,298 fans to Joe Riley Park.

Freshman
Alex Bialakis made the second start of his career on Tuesday, matching a season-best three strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work. The Bulldogs (7-9) used five pitchers in the contest and as a staff struck out 13Â and allowed 11 hits.

Offensively, The Citadel struggled to push runs across the plate, stranding 12 runners on base compared to the Tigers' (12-3) eight. Seniors
Stephen Windham and
Jason Smith both recorded a hit in the contest as well as junior
Austin Mapes.
Shy Phillips plated the lone RBI in the game for The Citadel on a sacrifice fly to right field in the eighth inning. The teams combined for 16 walks in the game.
