GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team was defeated 6-1 at Furman on Friday.
The Citadel (8-21, 0-3) dug itself an early hole by failing to lock down the doubles point and allowing Furman (7-7, 2-0) to sweep all three matches and earn the early advantage.
"I give credit to Furman for pulling out the doubles point," head coach
Chuck Kriese said. "We were ahead and once again could not close. They carried the momentum into the early part of singles. We nearly reversed the momentum for the matches at the end. I'm proud that our team continues to battle every bit of the way. Good job to Furman today. It was a very fine college match."
Sophomore
