Track and Field Teams Travel to Johnson City

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's track and field teams will compete in the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State on Friday and Saturday.

Last weekend, the Bulldogs lost close meets to VMI in the new indoor Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia. The men's squad fell 78-68 but had 12 personal records, seven wins and three performances that crested the top-10 in school history. The women's team dropped the meet to VMI 87-51 yet had eight personal records, three wins and seven top-10 program performances.

Senior Malik Diggs set a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds to take first overall against VMI and seal the No. 2 spot in program history. Freshman Jessy Page and junior Mady Riegel also left their mark on The Citadel's all-time list with Page's weight toss of 49-7.25 earning the No. 3 position and Riegel's 47-1.75 toss moving her to No. 5.

Sophomore Clarence Richardson also had an impressive first-place finish in the 400-meter race with a personal best of 50.56, and both men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams took first place for the day.
