Bulldogs Complete Final Day of Competition

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Citadel's track and field teams competed in the final day of the Buccaneer Invitational on Saturday.

For the men's squad, after qualifying for the finals on Friday sophomore Josiah Johnson placed eighth in the 60-meter race with a time of 6.89 seconds to secure his No. 3 spot in program history. Sophomore Stephan Kulick placed 12th overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:56.70. Senior Ross Jordan took third place in the 5,000 in a time of 15:12.95.

In the field events, sophomore Ja'Lon Williams finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 1 inch. Junior Derrick Freeland followed closely with a 10th-place finish with a 44-1.75 toss.

For the women's team, senior Caillian Colquitt placed 11th overall in the 5,000 with a time of 19:00.09. In the field, junior Asyria Daniels took 12th place in the long jump with a mark of 17-5.50, and sophomore Kameron Cass placed 14th in the shot put with a 37-4.00 toss.

Mady Riegel took the No. 11 spot in the weight toss final with a throw of 43-7.75, and freshman Jessy Page followed to take 13th place with a toss of 42-10.25.

The Citadel continues its seasons in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the High Point Team Challenge on Thursday. Results will be available at CitadelSports.com.
