Bulldogs Head to Bill Carson Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, to compete in the Bill Carson Invitational hosted by East Carolina on Friday and Saturday.
Last week senior Malik Diggs was honored as the SoCon Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Diggs earned a personal-best time of 55.28 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles at the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina. The Laurinburg, North Carolina, native leads the conference in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35 seconds and ranks fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Sophomore Josiah Johnson earned his first win of the season in the 100-meter dash at the Weems Baskin Invitational with a time of 10.93 seconds. Johnson also took fourth place in the 100 meters at the CSU Spring Break Invitational with the same time.
For the women's team, junior Mady Riegel has two first-place wins and a second-place finish in the javelin this season, with a personal-best toss of 141 feet, 11 inches at the Weems Baskin Invitational.
Freshman Jessy Page has also won two first-place finishes in the hammer throw and earned third place on The Citadel's all-time list with a heave of 156-2 at the Savannah State Invitational on March 11.
The two-day event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Along with the host ECU, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina State, Troy and Charlotte will be in attendance. Full meet results will be available at CitadelSports.com.
