CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel got its best defensive performance of the season, but it was not enough, as the Bulldogs fell, 26-23, to No. 23 ETSU Saturday afternoon in front 11,043 fans inside Johnson Hagood Stadium.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead as Jordan Black connected with Raleigh Webb on a 69-yard pass.
- Black would conclude the drive by diving over the top for a two-yard touchdown. The Bulldogs two-point attempt came up short.
- The Bucs would get on the board with a field goal late in the first quarter and tie the game just over two minutes into the second quarter with another field goal.
- Jacob Godek connected from 36-yards out to make it a 9-6 Bulldog lead. ETSU sent the teams into halftime with another field goal late in the half.
- The only scoring in the third quarter came on a Kobe Kelley 12-yard pass from Austin Herink.
- The Bulldogs came back to tie the game with 8:40 left in the game on Black's second TD of the game. The score came on a 4th-and-goal from the one and was the 13th rushing play on the 13-play drive.
- ETSU would regain the lead on a field goal before pushing their advantage to 10 points on a Tyree Robinson interception return for a touchdown.
- The Citadel did not go away as they responded with a touchdown drive of their own. The big play on the drive came when Black hit Dante Smith down the seam for 19 yards on 3rd-and-13.
- Clay Harris capped the drive with his first career rushing touchdown.
Inside the Numbers
- The Bulldogs outgained the Bucs 391-224. The Citadel outrushed ETSU, 203-55, and also had more passing yards, 188-169.
- The Bulldogs' 203 rushing yards were the most allowed by ETSU this season. The previous high was 190 to Tennessee.
- It marked the second time this season the Bulldogs have held an opponent under 100 rushing yards. The Citadel also held Mercer to just 32 yards on the ground.
- Jordan Black ran for 53 yards and two touchdowns. He also went 15-of-23 for 188 yards.
- The 15 completions and 23 attempts are the most by a quarterback since Tommy Edwards went 23-of-38 against Georgia Southern on Nov. 21, 2009.
- Raleigh Webb was the main target as he caught eight passes for 116 yards. He is the first 100-yard receiver since Matt Thompson had 123 yards against Appalachian State on Sept. 15, 2012.
- Dijon Profit added three catches for 39 yards. The catches were the first of his career.
- Noah Dawkins led the defensive charge with nine tackles and two sacks.
- Willie Eubanks, III added nine stops and Chris Beverly added seven.
- Joseph Randolph, II posted 3.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks.
